Graeme and I love a good bike ride. This past Sunday we were able to get out on our local Rails to Trails for a long ride and some picture taking.
I actually wasn’t going to bring the cameras, but Graeme suggested we did. So we have him to thank for these awesome pics. I’m glad he suggested it, because I had so much fun taking them. It was effortless and I felt like I was one with everything, the trail, the bike, Graeme, the camera. I love days like this.
This first group were all taken by me. I’m putting them up as I get them processed. I really like the angle I got on the bikes here. I’ve climbed down sort of under the bridge, right at ground level.
This is the side of the bridge, right in front of me! For Graeme and I, the best shots are often the result of being willing to climb over, under, around and through things like a monkey wielding a camera. Or maybe the camera is just an excuse to do that. More that, but both.
For me, photography is powerful meditation. I can’t think about anything except what I’m looking at while I’m taking a picture. At it’s best for me, it’s this weird and awesome fugue state where in my mind, I am what I’m looking at, for the few moments it takes me to get the shot.
Do you see the apple? Why is there a random apple by the stream? I don’t know either, and was just being funny when I took a quick shot at it. It actually turned out to be a pic I like.
Rust on the bridge!
My last shot of the day. Right by where we parked. I think I’ve taken this shot 100 times. I’ll probably take it 100 more times!
That’s all for my pics. Once Graeme’s are processed I’ll share them too. I hope you enjoyed our trail ride!
