So what’s a farl, you ask? No worries, I had to ask, too.
A farl is a Scottish or Irish flatbread you can top with all kinds of yuminess. As an Honest Cooking contributor and participant in the Potatoes USA #beholdpotatoes promotion, I’ve been asked to share this video showing how to make farl using potato flakes. I didn’t know this video would be part of the promotion when I agreed to it, but here we are. If you’d like to see something healthy and vegan using potatoes, please check out my post on Vegan Potato Pancakes.
So the concept of farl is pretty interesting, eh? Here are some toppings that would be delicious on farl…which I’m sure can be made without eggs and butter, somehow. If you’d like to see a healthy, vegan farl recipe, let me know and I’ll try to come up with something. In the meantime, let’s brainstorm about toppings:
- something spicy and Indian – get a little Scottish/Indian fusion going on!
- a thick, cozy chili, like my Black Bean and Quinoa Chili
- go breakfast crazy! Almond butter, apple slices, nuts, raisins or cranberries, a little cinnamon…yum!
So here’s that video.
