It’s Halloween candy season! Yay!! If you love that candy kick but you want to stop short of scarfing a whole bag of fun size bars, here’s a little treat you can whip up in a hurry. It’s like a candy bar melted on your popcorn, and some M&M’s® jumped into the fray. You can munch and much and savor, and it’s a lot more filling than straight candy thanks to the fiber in the popcorn and peanut butter. I wouldn’t make something like this every day, but it’s not every day. It’s Halloween!
Halloween Candy Popcorn
makes about 6 cups
5-6 cups air-popped corn
1 regular (between “fun size” and “sharing size”) bag of M&M’s®
2 Tbs chocolate chips
4 Tbs peanut butter, any kind
3 Tbs honey
1. Pop the corn and place it in a large bowl. Sift out buzzkill unpopped kernels. Sprinkle the candy and chips over the popcorn.
2. Combine the peanut butter and honey in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the mixture starts to bubble, stirring constantly.
3. Pour the peanut butter mixture over the popcorn and goodies. Use two forks to toss it all together so the popcorn gets well coated. The chocolate chips will melt into the coating. Dump everything out onto a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper or parchment to cool and dry, which will take about an hour.
