These orange pineapple smoothies are sweet, creamy all-fruit deliciousness. A chilly vitamin C blast!
As my summer fruit binge continues, I’ve stumbled onto one of the sweetest, creamiest, most addictive smoothies ever. Frozen orange and pineapple, I now know, is the peanut butter and jelly of the smoothie world. This is like drinking a fresh, healthy, whole-fruit incarnation of orange-pineapple sherbet.
I’m not kidding about the addictive part. After I made the batch and had a taste, I stood and ate smoothie out of the food processor for a while. Then I finally dumped it into a pitcher, and I ate smoothie out of the pitcher. I finally got myself to put it in glasses to take a pic, and only took two before I was like, forget this. I have to eat this smoothie. What?! That’s some powerful deliciousness. It’s like a force of nature.
I’m wondering if a little bit of that isn’t a crazy vitamin C overload. Between the oranges and pineapple this stuff is made of deliciousness and vitamin C, and they both make me feel a little high on life.
When these are freshly blended, they’re thick and spoonable. Wait a few warm summer minutes and they’re perfect for slurping through a straw.
All you do is freeze some orange and pineapple chunks, then blend them with a little non-dairy milk and two bonuses – a shot of maple syrup (all the sweetness!) and some grated rind from one of the oranges. That’s the price of admission to smoothie heaven. What a way to start the day! 🙂
